Another painting in my series of Birds for an upcoming show. Having spent some of my youth in the desert southwest. I would see these wrens on top of the prickly pear cactus. I could never figure out how they never got stuck by the thorns. The cactus when it is in bloom is such a stricking brilliance of color against the plain grey of the desert. I decided to paint them with soft muted pastel colors to make a contrast for the drab of the cactus wrens plumage. This painting is 12 x 24 Acrylic on canvas.
